The Swiss Taifun II tank destroyer was a private project to offer the Swiss military a vehicle to replace their aging AMX-13 light tanks, used by the Swiss as tank destroyers. A single prototype was built but the project was discontinued after 1982 due to the lack of interest.
The RDF-LT designation stands for Rapid Deployment Force Light Tank. This vehicle was designed as a private venture of a company that built several prototypes for the U.S. Army. The tank was introduced in 1980 and several protypes armed with various guns were built. It was however never mass-produced and the project was terminated in 1985.
